Eastpointe Memorial Day Parade
11am parade starts Northbound Gratiot in front of city hall, Eastpointe City Hall, 23200 Gratiot Avenue Marching bands, floats and military veterans will be among the participants in this years annual Memorial Day Parade. The Salvation Army Donut Girls 100th Anniversary
One hundred years ago, the first group of Salvation Army Donut Girls set sail for France to aid soldiers on the front lines of WWI. After just a few weeks, they were serving nearly 9,000 doughnuts every day. They continued to deliver the tasty treats amidst gunfire and bombs through WWI and WWII, simply to give soldiers a small token of hope and home.
