Michigan military Technical & Historical Society is proud to present “The Korean War”. A presentation by Professor Bruce Zellers.
Most Americans knew nothing about Korea in 1950– and the stategic importance of the peninsula was limited. However, Harry Truman, reflecting the cold War fears of many Americans, committed the United States to “police action” there in the summer of 1950. Hopes for a brief fight gradually gave way to recognition that we were engaged in a large, long, bloody conflict. Sadly, this proved to be a template for the later and even larger war in Vietnam. Join us as Oakland University Professor Bruce Zellers discusses the war in Korea.
