SUMMARY:Change for Change Program at English Gardens
DESCRIPTION:This October\, English Gardens stores across Metro Detroit are raising money for Capuchin Soup Kitchen through our “Change for Change” program. \nTo raise funds\, English Gardens is asking customers to round up their purchases to the nearest whole dollar amount or more. All of the money raised will be donated to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen sites that provide food\, clothing\, and human development programs for those in need across Metro Detroit. \nThe “Change for Change” program at English Gardens was launched in 2017\, and has raised money to build a Tiny Home\, a program with Cass Community Social Services\, the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute to support breast cancer research\, the American Red Cross and Forgotten Harvest. \nCapuchin Soup Kitchen was started during the Great Depression of 1929 as those in need visited the Secular Franciscans Montesary’s backdoor asking for bread. With more than 2\,000 people in line daily\, the Friar’s began collecting food from farms to make bread\, soup\, and serve meals to the community. \nToday\, Capuchin Soup Kitchen has grown to include a number of ministry sites such as programs for newly released prisoners\, community youth programs\, residential and addiction treatment facilities\, and The Capuchin Service Center that allows people to “shop” for food items and receive clothing and other items. Read more about Capuchin Soup Kitchen at https://www.capuchincommunityservices.org/. \nLearn more about our Change for Change Program.
